21 July 2014,
This is the day which we visited the Gujo hachiman Castle~ It is situated on the hill top and reconstructed by timber and not concrete.
This is the place where is found the Japanese maple tree！ I seriously love it! maple leaf with 6 parts compared to the normal 5 parts maple leaves…=), Some of them asked me how did i notice that? I don’t know~ i Just notice that 6 and remind you that i stayed in tassie for few years…
I am just amazed by how the people care about the tree, they paused and feeling pathetic to the bark… telling me that ‘injured, bandage…‘
then we had a lecture by a 80+years old oojisan… I was wondering about the content of the whole lots of long combined A4 papers. It is actually his whole life history from where he live until where is he now… such as amazing history.
He used to be a small tiny primary school principal. He tried everything in order to make the primary school famous, or to be more accurate, to make the region more famous(to make them more confident in themselves). Finally he found the specialty of that region which is “HERBS”… This lecture is about the Japanese culture and its herbs. Everything around us is functional and usable, we should be more alert and appreciate the things around us. Personally, i think he is really proud of himself. That is why he wrote his history down on the papers…. Until now, he is still working on researching the herbs… He told us about how he spread the goodness of the place… He used the art, and culture to promote the place. He make used of every chance he has to introduce the place. He kept all the magazine , all the newspapers about his story or the primary school story. He shown us his picture when he was young. He wrote a book about all the herbs which can be grown in the specific period.
Forest time~ We carry all the things, and we depart to the forest.
We visited the old shrine passed down over generations… The family actually found the shrine and maintain it. They even rebuilt a new one so that formal prayers can be held and as the tourist attraction. The pastor is an old man with his son as new generation of ‘protecting the forest and using the forest’. I would say they protect the forest because they really appreciate what will the forest gave them. They replant and make sure there is still virgin forest and everything is untouched. The family has a samurai history protecting the castle. Then starting to do some forestry meanwhile conserving the shrine.
Then we have a bbq feast and drinks.. lecture bout mino nursery and then sleep soundly~
Knowledge of the day:
1. It can be great it can be small , just if you believe
2. It can be nature, it can be real, Just open your eyes and see
3. It can be new, can be familiar, just need to accept them
4. It can be fulfiling if you just appreciate it.
It may be new, it may be hard, it is just the beginning…
