OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Facade material majority with Corten… Portraying the age of the “museum contents”

The Ramp going down leads you to the entry…

???????????????????????????????

The louvers as the second skin for the glazing…

And of course, as an exhibition building, natural lighting control is a must….

Wide maintenance walkways for the facade of louvers are designed…

Services are not to be forgotten as well…

?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

Eyes are attracted to the exposed vertical circulation -lifts and escalators…

Things are raw and seems untouched… Back to the fundamentals of space…

When spaces are more important than covering the servicing part….

Or when servicing to be part of the design… which I think is amazing…

The building unexpectedly presents you with an indoor garden concept…

Green patches and green climbing on corten…

Yes, Corten are widely used for interiors as well…

It was actually nice bringing the greens into the building creating a softer image of the interior

and for Gdansk as well,..

Transparent staircase thread are designed to prevent sight interruption…

______

This is the second building I visited, which emphasizing on using “Corten” as the image after MONA in Hobart…

Thus making a comparison… I wonder why the ESC’s facade worn out faster than it supposed to be…

Obviously MONA in Hobart is still well maintained and protected from drastic corrosion even though the setting is next to the sea(Salty Water)…

???????????????????????????????
